Disney's The Magic Behind Our Steam Trains
Magic Kingdom
Disney's The Magic Behind Our Steam Trains tour is a great one for people who love trains and want to get a peek at the Magic Kingdom's locomotives up-close. You will get to watch as the train crew prepares the Walt Disney World Railroad steam trains for their daily operation.
Arrive early to the Magic Kingdom before other visitors for this 3-hour tour. Besides watching the railroad engineers preparing for the day, you will be able to see the backstage roundhouse. Then, take a ride on the rails while your guide gives you insight of how Walt Disney's fascination and love of steam trains brought them to the park.
The 4 restored antique trains are named: Lilly Belle, Roy O. Disney, Roger E. Broggie and Walter E. Disney. They were built in the U.S. around the turn of the 20th century and taken to Mexico. They enjoyed long careers working for the United Railways of Yucatan hauling sugarcane, until they were spotted by Disney scouts in 1969 and brought to Walt Disney World Resort for opening day on October 1, 1971. They have been happy at the Magic Kingdom ever since.
Admission is required and is not included in the price of this tour. You must be at least 10 years old to attend. Watch the weather as this is an outdoor tour.
