If you love dogs, there is no way you are not going to fall in love with Beverly Hills Chihuahua. This movie, aimed to entertain kids, equally entertains their parents as well. First of all, talking dogs are funny and also kind of cute. And with Beverly Hills Chihuahua, director Raja Gosnell has achieved a wonderful comedy where a spoiled rotten little dog wearing diamonds understands that in reality, life can be harsh and true love is that which lasts all the way.

The story follows little Chloe (voiced by Drew Barrymore) who is a spoiled Chihuahua living in Beverly Hills. She loves her luxurious, comfortable life and takes it for granted. Not once does she realize that Papi (voiced by George Lopez) is worth her attention and loves her because he is the gardener’s dog. Her owner (Jamie Lee Curtis) is rich and keeps Chloe in style with dog booties to protect her feet and a diamond collar. Chloe finds herself lost in Mexico, lost by Rachel (Piper Perabo) who is babysitting the dog for her aunt. It's then, that the spoiled pooch understands real life and the real world. She meets a lot of interesting people, makes friends with the handsome and fearsome German shepherd named Delgado (Voiced by Andy Garcia) and realizes the true worth of Papi. The story unfolds comically as Chloe travels with Delgado, looking for her collar that will help her get back home and learns how dogs outside Beverly Hills live. Meanwhile, Rachel forms a gang with the gardener (played by Manolo Cardona) and his dog Papi, a crazy rat, a nervous iguana and three dogs.

The movie is hilarious and quite charming. Drew Barrymore makes Chloe seem so realistic with her cute booties she keeps losing and her small voice that makes her feel lost in the big bad world. The voice suits the character of Chloe perfectly, and Barrymore has managed to make the audience actually feel the pain of poor Chloe who cannot help it if she was spoiled. On the other hand, Delgado is a treat. Handsome and street-wise, his rough exterior is an act to hide his soft side. Andy Garcia gives Delgado the perfect voice with the gruff edges and makes you crack up every time he calls Chloe “kid”. Like a good hero in any movie that hates attachments, he keeps telling Chloe she isn’t his problem, yet returns every time Chloe manages to be in a mess too big for her to handle. Every time Chloe finds herself cornered by the evil and scary Doberman named Diablo, Delgado is there like a superhero to protect her.

They end up in the area where Delgado and Chloe meet many Chihuahuas who are her ancestors and mock her lifestyle in Beverly Hills. The movie gives kids a sweet message which teaches them to accept their heritage, their roots and respect it. Beverly Hills Chihuahua is a comedy out and out, it will keep you engrossed and you will laugh your head off every time Chloe has a little adventure.
