American Actress Sierra Nicole McCormick was born on October 28, 1997, in Asheville, North Carolina. Her family moved to Los Angeles when she was very young. She later attended a drama school where she was discovered.
In 2006, Sierra joined The Corsa Agency based in Los Angeles. Her first television guest appearance was in Fox Network’s ‘Til Death at only nine years old. In 2007, she auditioned with thousands of other children for the second season of the quiz show Are You Smarter Than a 5TH Grader. Being quite smart and a member of the honor roll at her school, Sierra won a place in the cast. She made several more guest appearances on TV including HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, 20th Century Fox’s Boston Legal and Criminal Minds of CBS.
The year 2009 was a busy time for Ms. McCormick she guest starred in several TV shows and even made movies. Among her TV appearances that year include Warner Bros. Television’s Supernatural as the demon ‘Lilith’ in a human host, Disney’s Hannah Montana as a young fan and Touchstone Television’s Monk. Her first movie came via Disney Channel’s made for TV film Jack and Janet Save the Planet where she portrayed the role of ‘Molly’. While her first big screen role was as one of the Tar Pits kids in Universal Pictures’ Land of the Lost which starred Will Ferrell. She also played the role of ‘Kara Bannister’ in the TV movie The Dog Who Saved Christmas which premiered on November 29, 2009, on ABC Family. She also had a small part in the TV film The Breakdown.
More breaks came her way the next year 2010. She was cast in a recurring role as ‘Scout Susan’ in ABC’s Romantically Challenged, as ‘Gracie Layman’ in an episode of the suspense-drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigator entitled Irradiator, and as the adolescent lead character ‘Allison’ in Medium. She also co-starred in the Fox-Walden movie adaptation of Beverly Cleary’s Ramona book series entitled Ramona and Beezus as ‘Susan Kushner’. Before the year ended, she co-starred in another holiday themed TV movie A Nanny for Christmas as ‘Jackie Ryland’.
By 2011, Sierra got her biggest break by landing a lead role in the Disney Channel comedy A.N.T. Farm as a young girl with a photographic memory. She got the part after making an impression of the show’s creator and producer Dan Signer during her audition where she talked about tigers continuously. When he heard her talking, Mr. Signer recalled saying to himself, “That's just how Olive would sound.” Ms. McCormick would later say during an interview that working at the show was easy for her as she and co-star, China Anne McClain, were already close friends after having worked together previously in Jack and Janet Save the Planet and an episode of Hannah Montana in 2009. In the latter part of 2011, Disney announced that A.N.T. Farm is up for a second season. The Disney teen star later guest starred in another Disney Channel sitcom, Jessie, as ‘Connie’ in an episode entitled Creepy Connie Comes a Callin and co-starred in the direct-to-DVD Disney family film Spooky Buddies.
Among her many favorites are the colors pink and blue, flip flops, smoothies (particularly strawberry banana), That 70’s Show, candies: Health Bars, Nerds and Reeses, and woven bracelets. She also loves the music of Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Kesha. During her free time she enjoys going to the beach, biking, swimming, playing the piano and going shopping at Hollister and Juicy. She is also passionate about reading. Her favorite books are The Hunger Games and Pretty Little Liars. Further, she loves to call her adoring fans, “Sierra Bears.”
At present, Sierra McCormick lives in Los Angeles together with her family. She has a younger sister named Kayla whom she really enjoys hanging out with together with the rest of her family as well as her friends. Unknown to many, she can speak with a Southern or British accent flawlessly. She looks up to James Franco, Natalie Portman and Ellen Page as her idols. She has said that in 10 years time, she will still be acting and probably be in college at the same time. The future really looks bright for this talented teen star.
