Caroline Sunshine was born to proud parents Thom and Karen Sunshine on September 5, 1995. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, her family later moved to Orange County, California, where she grew up.
At the tender age of 3, Sunshine began to show interest in performing. She enrolled in ballet and played the role of ‘Goldilocks’ in kindergarten. She later appeared in stage productions at Orange County Children's Theater and Lutheran High School. She was also with the South Coast Performing Arts studio in Tustin, California, where she danced competitively. Among her many stage credits are Annie Warbucks, The Nutcracker and Stage Door.
By the time she reached 6th grade, Caroline started going to auditions and landed her first professional role in an ad for Amazing Allysen, the talking doll. In 2010, Sunshine began filming for the pilot of the CBS sitcom Team Spitz, playing the teen-aged daughter of a high school coach. Later that same year, Sunshine played "Barbara Winslow" in the featured film Marmaduke, based on the comic book with the same name.
Later in the fall, Sunshine scored a major break when she was chosen to play a part in the Disney Channel original comedy series, Shake It Up! Her role is that of "Tinka Hessenheffer" an overbearing and glitzy exchange student from Europe and the fraternal twin sister of "Gunther" (played by Kenton Duty). The brother-sister characters in the show are said to have been inspired by ‘Ryan and Sharpay Evans’ of Disney's High School Musical. She is also set to have a guest appearance this year in Disney’s A.N.T. Farm.
At a young age, Caroline knows how to give back to the community. As of February, 2011, she has signed in as spokesperson and model of Puppy Love 4 Girls, a teen fragrance that is also committed to the cause of homeless puppies and dogs. A portion of all the proceeds of their fragrances goes to animal shelters around the country. She is also involved in several other charitable causes such as the Joyful Sewing Organization which isa group that makes blankets for cancer victims, Working Wardrobes which gives assistance to underprivileged women as well as domestic abuse victims, Loaves and Fishes Ministry which is an organization that assists in feeding the homeless, the Thirst Project which aims to provide clean drinking water in developing countries, and Adopt A Hero which is a program that seeks to provide for the needs of solders as well as their families.
Miss Sunshine enjoys doing several activities on her free time including dancing, cooking, baking and photography. She is also a lover of the outdoors and has fun traveling, going to the beach, snorkeling, rafting and surfing. At present she lives in Orange County, California with her parents and two younger brothers named Johnny and Chris.
Caroline has a musical gift too. She sings "Roam" and made a video with her Shake It Up! co-stars Adam Irigoyen, Kenton Duty and Davis Cleveland, which is featured on the upcoming release of Disney's "Treasure Buddies." We are excited to hear and see more from Caroline!
