Olivia Holt had a chat with Tommy2 about her music and "Girl Vs. Monster" today (September 21, 2012). Today is the big Planet Premiere on Radio Disney of her song, "Had Me @ Hello!" Take a peek at the interview to see how she is feeling about that! Tommy2: How’s it going, it’s Tommy2 and checking in with us today we have Olivia Holt from Disney XD’s “Kickin’ It.” She’s here to share with us about her new song “Had Me @ Hello” that premiers tonight at 4pm Pacific time on Radio Disney. Olivia, how are you doing today? Olivia Holt: I’m doing well. How are you? Tommy2: I’m doing great! Are you excited for your Planet Premiere tonight? Olivia Holt: I’m ecstatic, I’m so excited I can not wait for everyone to hear the song. Tommy2: Now, what can you tell us about your new song, “Had Me @ Hello?” Olivia Holt: Well, “Had Me @ Hello” is hands down an incredible song. I had such a great time recording and basically “Had Me @ Hello” is about either a guy or a girl both kind of crushing on each other and kind of not really wanting the conversation to end when they say hello to each other. It’s a really cute song and you know I think everyone can kind of relate to it. Tommy2: Do you have a favorite line from the song? Olivia Holt: Well, the beginning of the song starts out “I can feel you coming from a mile away,” and just that line gives me the goose bumps because, you know it just kind of puts the whole song together and kind of puts the story in place and it just, it just like sets the mood for the song and I’m really excited for everyone to listen to the song, you know kind of just jam to and it’s going to be really fun. Tommy2: And is there any chance you can give us just a tiny preview by singing like one line of the chorus? Olivia Holt: Yeah, okay – sure! Don’t say, don’t say goodnight you know, you had me at hello. Tommy2: Okay, I wan’t more… but I’m going to have to wait right? Olivia Holt: Yeah, you’re gonna have to wait a little bit. That’s a little bit of the chorus, I don’t want to give too much away but… yeah! Tommy2: Okay, now in addition to that song, you’ve got two other songs you recorded for the movie “Girl vs. Monster,” which is “Fearless” and “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now.” What can you say about those tracks? Olivia Holt: Well, “Fearless” is an incredible song, it’s absolutely one of my favorites. “Fearless” is basically about facing your fears – which I think is really cool because anybody can listen to that song and think, it’s time to face my fears now. And even though you know the song is basically about monsters it could be about anything else, which I really love about that song. And “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” is also about facing your fears. It’s about being confident and living live to the fullest and staying happy and nothing’s going to get in your way, which I think is a really cool message to bring throughout a song. Tommy2: And those three songs, will be released by Walt Records on the “Make Your Mark: Ultimate Playlist” compilation on October 16th… but we’ll have a chance to hear more new music by you on October 2nd on the release “Disney Channel Holiday Playlist.” You recorded “Winter Wonderland” right? Olivia Holt: I did… yes, I did. Tommy2: Did you have to get into the holiday spirit a little early for that? Olivia Holt: I did actually… it was really funny, I was in the recording studio and of course I was singing Christmas songs so they were like, “Okay Olivia, we need you to get your Christmas song. Get in that Christmas spirit.” So I was like okay, it was really funny – I wanted a Santa hat just so I could sit in the studio and have that holiday spirit, but they didn’t have a Santa had around of course cause it was still summer, but it was a lot of fun. I had such a great time recording that song as well. Tommy2: Okay, so in the next month, you’ve got four songs that will be coming out. Growing up did you have much desire to become a singer? Olivia Holt: I did! Singing was my first love and I can remember sitting in the car with my Dad or my Mom and they’d just be like “Olivia, okay it’s time to calm down. You need to stop singing” because I’d be singing like 24/7. And you know it’s so great to be actually pursuing singing because it’s so inspiring to me and I want to inspire other people with the music that I sing and the music that I write and I’m really looking forward you know for everyone listening to the music that’s coming out later this year. Tommy2: And now it’s time for the real thing. Are you going to be excited to see these products in stores when they come out? Olivia Holt: I am! I’m so so so so excited! Tommy2: When you went into the studio to first record the songs was that a little intimidating for you? Olivia Holt: Yeah, it was a little different for me because I’m used to being on like a sound stage where there’s sets and there’s a lot of people and you know I just kind of went into this little studio where there wasn’t to many people and it was more about music. So it was so nerve-racking but at the same time it was so incredible to me, it was so interesting and I was just really happy to be there. So, all those nerves kind of went away when I went into the booth and just started singing. The recording studio is now a second home for me, it’s where I want to be.
